Ballet show for charity

Benonians can look forward to the Gill Henning School of Ballet’s performance, in aid of Animals in Distress and Choc.

The City Times attended a dress rehearsal on February 18, to get a taste of what the dance students will offer to Benoni audiences.

The show illustrates a Peter Pan fantasy delight, through graceful choreography.

Principal Gill Henning Zwarts has been dancing since she was three years old and, after going abroad, started the Gill Henning School of Dance in 1970.

She is a qualified ballet, Spanish, Greek classical, contemporary, modern and tap dance teacher.

The studio frequently hosts shows to support charity organisations.

Since 1974, they have raised funds for the Benoni SPCA, Animal Anti-Cruelty, Hospice, and even an awareness programme against cruelty to dogs in the Philippines, amongst other charities.

Gill was presented with a Vocational Award by the Rotary Club of Benoni Van Ryn, in 2011, for her involvement with various charities.

A number of underprivileged students have also been taught through the studio, with bursaries sponsored by the studio.

All three shows will be staged at Arbor Primary School, in Ash Street, Northmead, and will start at 6.30pm.

Tickets will be sold at the door.
