Pilot shares stories from a lifetime of flight
Beauty, wonder and environmental damage are some the views from up in the air.
This was the message of Karl Jensen, who spoke at a special breakfast organised by the Rotary Club of Benoni Aurora, recently.

The forum, held at the Benoni Country Club, saw Jensen talk about the airline industry in South Africa and share stories from his 54 years as a pilot.
He exhibited a wide selection of photos, which were taken from the sky during his career and emphasised the impact of various man-made ventures, especially mines, on the environment.
Jensen is part of The Bateleurs, a non-profit organisation of pilots, who aim to get a bird’s eye view of environmental damage to the South African landscape.
“We (The Bateleurs) aim to use an aerial perspective of the environment to influence action from a political point of view,” Jensen said.
He is a recipient of a Paul Harris Fellowship Award, which he received from the Rotary Club of Benoni Aurora about four years ago.
Jensen is a Pretoria resident, but lived in Alphen Park for about 27 years, when he was working for South African Airways.
