Youth encouraged to be their own bosses

The youth were encouraged to start their own businesses, during a seminar held at the Mokoka Library, in Daveyton.

Business coach Charles Mchunu held the business seminar on May 12, as a celebration of his 40th birthday.

The aim of the gathering was to equip the youth of Daveyton with knowledge on how to start businesses and create employment for themselves and other young people.

The attendees were taught to draw up a business plan, manage finances, to identify their target market and to apply their personal attributes to their business.

Mchunu said he wanted to give back to others, as he is aware of the struggles one can come across when starting a business.

“Many people have great ideas on what they want in terms of business, but they don’t know where to begin,” he said.

“Hence, I saw the opportunity to help them make those ideas come to life.”

The Daveyton resident added that people have the mindset that they need to start a business with lots of capital, while you can actually start without a cent.

“I will gladly continue assisting the attendees until they get their businesses started,” he said.

Besides being a business coach, Mchunu is the owner of Sir Charles Consulting, a motivational speaker and author of “Power Beyond Measure”.

The inspirational book highlights some of the difficult situations Mchunu faced on his journey and how he managed to overcome them.

Mchunu said if he can do it, anyone else can, too.
