Crystal Park SAPS arrests 40

The Crystal Park SAPS, together with the K9 unit, arrested 40 people from July 1 to 7.

The police concentrated on increasing their visibility, mobile road blocks and stop-and-search operations.

Of the 40 arrests, 12 were made for possession of dagga, in Chief Luthuli Park.

Others arrests included: 13 illegal immigrants arrested, eight for being drunk in public, two for theft and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and one person for illegal gambling, malicious damage to property and indecent exposure.

‘‘The station commander, Lieut Col Belinda Motaung, said she is pleased with the members’ performance, and thanked all the role players for assisting in combating crime,’’ said Crystal Park SAPS media liaison officer Tryna Maritz.

‘‘The crime is down in the Crystal Park area, and the community is also be thanked for doing their part, and assisting the police with information.’’
