So close for Vale in Port Shepstone

Benoni's Clare Vale had some positives to take home from Port Shepstone.

Benoni’s Clare Vale returned to the SupaDrift Series in Port Shepstone over the weekend with positive results, qualifying 17th, just three points out of the Top 16.

The RAM team’s hard work really paid off, as the Mustang performed well on the tricky “rollercoaster” track.

The popular Dezzi circuit also posed new challenges for Vale, but she handled them well and can look forward to her next event with confidence.

SupaDrift 06 will be held at the Dezzi Raceway again, in mid-August.

Speaking about her weekend Vale said: “We had very little time to test before this event, and I was really not too sure about how we would tackle the ups and downs of the new circuit.

“In the end, the circuit favoured a big horsepower car with lots of torque and proved ideal for the RAM Mustang.

“My biggest challenge was running out of RPM in fourth gear on the fastest section of the course, and that cost me in qualifying, as I had to straight-line briefly.

“We can run a faster ratio when we return in August, and I think the car will be very competitive then.”

Vale’s next event will be at the Rockmania Festival, at The Rock Raceway, in Brakpan, on July 13.
