Police spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele said that Sfiso Masanabo was stabbed when he approached a 16-year-old boy,who had stolen his younger brother’s bicycle.
“A five-year-old child was playing with a bicycle in the street when the 16-year-old grabbed it from him and ran away with it,” said Sekele.
Masanabo approached the 16-year-old to get his brother’s bike back, but was stabbed once in the upper body.
He was rushed to the Daveyton Main Clinic, where he died soon after.
Police have arrested the 16-year-old,who was handed over by his father.
He has been detained at a place of safety until his court appearance, which is due soon,in the Benoni Magistrates Court.
