Car spins through shop
Several people narrowly escaped injury when a Mercedes spun out of control and sped through Rynfield Drapers and Outfitters, on Wednesday morning, at 10am.
The manager of the clothing outfitter, Mohammed Seedat, said he was standing at the shop’s counter when he heard glass from the front door break.
The car broke through the front door and kept accelerating while making its way through the store.
‘‘One girl was trying on a shoe and the car just missed her by a few centimetres,’’ said Seedat.
He said three people were narrowly missed.
The manager at the nearby Rynfield Car Bath and Coffee Shop, Sarel Kruger, said the driver of the car wanted to wash his car before the incident.
‘‘He said he would park the car and have it washed, and when I looked again the car was through the shop,’’ said Kruger.
ER24 JHB East spokesperson Liam Hardy said no one was injured in the incident.
The driver of the car told paramedics he lost control of the vehicle.
