Con magistrate wanted

The Benoni police have launched a hunt for a man who conned people out of thousands of rand, while lying about being a magistrate.

Sisa Pangeni allegedly charged people R9 100 each, promising them jobs at the Benoni Magistrates Court in return.

“He operated outside the court, between March and June, and has, thus far, conned a total of 11 people,” said police spokesman Lieut Nomsa Sekele.

He furnished people with an account number to deposit money into.

To get hold of a copy of his identity document from the bank, the police applied under Section 205 of the Criminal Act.

The address they were given led them to a house in Vanderbijlpark, in the Vaal Triangle.

“The police, however, found a new house owner who knew nothing about Pangeni,” said Sekele.

Anyone who might have any information is urged to contact the investigating officer, WO Frans Madubanya, on 083 358 1251.
