Case to to be re-opened

Putfontein police will, for the second time, re-open the case against the men found in possession of R12-million worth of suspected stolen laptops, in Lilyvale, in May.

This is after the magistrate withdrew the case in the Benoni Regional Court on July 16, due to the fact that only one of the four suspects was in court.

Four men were arrested in connection with the suspected stolen property, in Lilyvale, on May 6.

On May 8, three of the four suspects were released at their first court appearance in the Benoni Regional Court, after the case was struck off the roll due to a lack of evidence against them.

Putfontein police re-opened the case of possession of a hijacked truck with stolen goods on May 8.

The Putfontein Police Station commander, Lieut Col Khumbulani Mbatha, said the case will be re-opened and the four men will be re-summonsed.

He could not indicate when the case would be re-opened.
