Hospice Wall of Fame awards
Good samaritans were awarded for their kind donations to Hospice East Rand.
The ceremony was held at the Italian Club in Boksburg on Friday night, August 30.
Members printed their palms on two certificates, one to take home and the other to be erected on the Hospice Wall Of Fame at the Hospice East Rand premises.
Members raised a total of R46 000 since the project kicked off on July 6, at Café Bellini.
Participants initially pledged to raise R55 000 but some withdrew from the project because they were unable to raise the money.
On the night, Benoni professional cyclist Gavin Taylor was honoured for raising the most money for this project, and won a prize for it, which he donated back to Hospice.
Hospice PRO Gerda Baverstock said that the awards were designed to acknowledge and express “our sincere gratitude to all the donors.
“The awards were our token of appreciation,” said Baverstock.
The Wall of Fame was due to be erected during the course of this week.
The Benoni City Times also received an award for its role in the project.
