Doctor arrested for raping patient

A medical practitioner was arrested for allegedly raping his patient.

The man was arrested at his surgery in Actonville, on the afternoon of September 9.

Actonville police spokesman, Capt Mack Mngomezulu, said the incident occurred when the patient went to the surgery on August 31.

“The patient alleges that after being examined the doctor gave her the pill to take, and told her to go back to the waiting room,” said Mngomezulu.

After almost 10 minutes, said Mngomezulu, the doctor called the patient back to the consultation room.

“He ordered her to take her clothes off and lie on the patient bed for the next examination,” said Mngomezulu.

“She then felt that the doctor was raping her.”

The patient reported the matter in Johannesburg where she lives.

Mngomezulu said the suspect was arrested and detained for rape and was due to appear in the Benoni Magistrates court on September 10.
