Police make major CAT bust

Crystal Park SAPS made their biggest drug busts in at least eight years after seizing CAT with an estimated street value of R33 600 on Thursday, last week.

Police also arrested two Nigerian nationals and a woman in the raids at two Crystal Park properties.

Police called in the assistance of metro police’s K-9 unit and the Crystal Park and Benoni CPF after received a tip off from an informant.

The informant directed police to a house in Rocla Road where one of the men and his girlfriend, an 18-year-old South African woman, were apprehended.

Police discovered 82 packets of CAT at the premises.

The informant then directed police to Concorde Crescent where a second Nigerian national was arrested after police discovered two packets of CAT in the man’s vehicle.

Crystal Park SAPS station commander Lieut Col Belinda Motaung was elated with police’s work.

She said she is pleased with the relationship between the police, CPF and metro police and felt crime could be reduced if all the role players worked together to fight crime.

The three suspects are facing charges of possession of drugs and dealing in drugs.

They were detained at the Crystal Park Police Station and were expected to appear in court on Monday, September 16.
