Kriek’s suspension lifted
Ward 27's Clr Gerrie Kriek's suspension from DA caucus matters was lifted on Tuesday, last week, according to DA Ekurhuleni caucus leader Shelley Loe.
Kriek was suspended on March 20, following an alleged road rage incident which took place the previous day.
Kriek has also apologised unreservedly to the party and his caucus for misconduct that had brought the party into disrepute, said Loe.
These details were forwarded to the party’s Provincial Executive Committee for ratification.
‘‘The PEC imposed a further penalty but, until that process has been finalised, I am not at liberty to provide the details of such,’’ said Loe.
‘‘I will release full information once all due processes are completed.’’
Loe said the incident was investigated in spite of the road rage charges being dropped against Kriek. He was permitted to fulfil his duties as councillor despite his suspension from caucus-related matters.
The councillor did not want to comment.
