Taking politics at public dialogue part two

Carl Schultz, a strategy consultant from Rynfield, was the guest speaker at the recent meeting of the Aurora Ebotse public dialogue series.

He covered a broad perspective on politics and leadership, with the focus on next year’s elections.

“Politics are free cheese; people like getting free stuff, but cheese comes in a mouse trap,” said Schultz.

He added that South Africa has a leadership crisis and debates that socio-economic challenges, such as poverty, crime and a lack of education are not the primary “problems” in our country, but rather the lack of good leadership.

He believes that other aspects will follow if strong leadership is implemented.

Schultz emphasised the importance of voting.

“If people can just realise that they can make a difference if they vote,” he said.

“If you do not vote, you cannot criticise.”

Schultz also made a few predictions for next year’s elections and those to follow in the future.

Guests then had the opportunity to engage in a dialogue session with him.

The public dialogue series is an initiative of the Rotary Club of Benoni Aurora and Ebotse Golf and Country Estate and has a different, authoritative socio-economic and political commentator giving a talk at each meeting.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 27, at the Ebotse clubhouse, and features Douglas Gibson, former Ambassador to Thailand.
