12 year sentence for robbers

Three men were each sentenced to 12 years in prison for their role in a 2011 house robbery.

Vincent Mkhwanazi (30) from Tsakane, Sibusisi Khumalo (30) from Boksburg and Mpumelelo Msomiaged (26) from Daveyton, were sentenced in the Benoni Magistrates Court, on October 21.

The house robbery took place in Chief Albert Luthuli Park on August 6, 2011.

The two robbery victims were sitting outside a property when they were approached by two men.

The victims were forced inside the property, had their hands and feet tied, and their house ransacked.

The two robbers, who were later joined by a third man, stole money, cellphones and the complainants’ car keys and vehicle papers.

The police members gave chase shortly after the crime and apprehended the men in Daveyton.

They will serve their sentences in Modderbee Prison.
