LifeLine celebrates International Volunteer Day

December 5 was International Volunteer Day and LifeLine Ekurhuleni celebrated the vital role their volunteers play within the organisation, and the non-profit organisation sector as a whole.

“Our volunteers are a strong team of compassionate, dedicated and passionate individuals who go the extra mile in providing counselling and support to the community.

“To each one of these volunteers, we would like to say thank you for their unwavering commitment and contribution this year, to both the organisation and the people whose lives you touched and helped to change,” said Debbie Richards, LifeLine Ekurhuleni director.

Taryn Yeoman, LifeLine Ekurhuleni’s counselling manager and a Vodacom Change the World volunteer, is encouraging people to get more involved in volunteer work and to expand their horizons.

She is specifically urging individuals to join LifeLine Ekurhuleni’s life-changing Personal Growth Course, in February 2014 – a first step towards becoming a volunteer counsellor with the organisation.

“The Personal Growth Course offers experiential learning opportunities, which encourage individuals to learn from each other within a group context, with the aim of deepening self-awareness.

“This exciting journey of self-exploration will inspire you to evaluate your past, your relationships, your ambitions and your personal attributes, and help you to change and move forward with a fresh approach to life,” concluded Yeoman.
