Grahamstown police cluster spokesperson Capt Mali Govender said the wreckage was discovered in a valley at Harvey’s Loop at 3pm on February 1.

She could not say whether the pilot died on impact.

Govender said investigators were on scene till late on Saturday and resumed the following day.

Pike was missing from last week Wednesday (January 29) when he failed to land in Port Elizabeth from taking off from the 43 Air School in Port Alfred.
