Unathi Monaheng is ready for the work place

Unathi Monaheng, from Benoni, was part of the 2013 Peermont Education Trust Lesedi Programme.

The Lesedi Programme was designed to offer a unique and innovative solution to the problem of unemployment, by offering training opportunities.

Through hard work and dedication, young people are able to complete a certificate in one of the following hospitality courses: food and beverage, hotel reception or professional cookery.

The training provider, the Tourism and Business Institute of South Africa, offers theory-based lessons at the Emperors Palace training centre, and the practical hours for the qualification are also served at Emperors Palace.

On completion of the certificate programme, the candidates are ready for the workplace.

Monaheng also obtained a bursary to study towards a hospitality management qualification, at the University of Johannesburg

Over 500 learners have received training since the inception of the Peermont Education Trust, in various fields, including nurse, millwright, fitter and turner and electrical.
