Woman dies in accident on Pretoria Road
A woman died on Sunday, February 2, due to injuries sustained in a vehicle accident, on Pretoria Road, in Rynfield.
The woman, in her 30s, was a passenger travelling with a male driver, who lost control of his vehicle and collided with a tree.
“Paramedics were summoned and started CPR en route to hospital, but her condition deteriorated,” said ER24 Johannesburg East spokesperson Glen Orritt.
“Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital”.
The male driver, in his 20s, was trapped in the vehicle, and paramedics tried to free him.
“The Jaws of Life, along with other rescue equipment, was used to free the entrapped man,” said Orritt.
“He had suffered serious injuries and, once stabilised, he was transported to a nearby hospital by ER24 for further care.”
Local authorities were on scene to investigate.
