Criminals target vehicles and motorcycles

Crystal Park SAPS have made the following preventative tips available after an increase in theft of motor vehicles and motorcycles in the precinct:

  •  Always park vehicles in a locked garage. If there is no garage, ensure that the vehicle is parked close to the bedroom, or at the back of the house, (out of sight).
  •  Never leave vehicles on the pavement.
  •  Ensure that all motorcycles are parked out of sight, and in locked facilities. If possible do not park motorcycles under a carport that is visible from the road.
  •  Always remove your valuables from the vehicle, such as GPS devices, cellphones, laptops and wallets.
  •  In most cases, dogs are being poisoned, and after a few days, the criminals are coming back to steal motorcycles and vehicles.
  •  The public must report all dog poisoning cases that occur, in order for the SAPS to do extra patrols in that area. A register is kept in the client service centre of the dog poisoning cases.
  •  The public can also contact their local CPF chairpersons to report dog poisoning cases. They will then make contact with the SAPS:
