Nothing new on the Farrarmere road closure

It’s been almost a year since the last public meeting on the Farrarmere road closure, and no new developments have been made.

Then, a well attended meeting was held on February 26, at Belverdere School.

Farrarmere resident and Manny’s Timber and Hardware managing director Manny Ferreirinha, addressed the public and showed them the proposed closure.

The proposal indicated which streets will be closed off permanently; which will be open during the day and closed off at night, and where the access controlled booms will be.

“The Farrarmere road closure infrastructure will look like that of Alphen Park and Lake West,” said Ferreirinha.

A total of R157 548 is needed for the traffic impact study to be conducted.

A bank account for the community of Farrarmere has been opened.

Each household in Farrarmere is required to deposit R100, towards the traffic impact study.

Payments can be made into the following account:

Account number FCP – Closure Account,

Bank Standard Bank

Branch code 01-0342

Account number 021 129 185

Members of the public are to use their home address as a reference.

Ferreirinha emphasized that households who have already deposited their share into the account must not deposit any more.
