New Benoni Interact Club president inducted
The Rotary Club of Benoni held a dinner on the evening of Tuesday, March 18, to induct the Willowmoore High Interact Club president.
The Rotary Club of Benoni held a dinner on the evening of Tuesday, March 18, to induct the Willowmoore High Interact Club president.
President of the Rotary Club of Benoni, Leatitia Fourie, inducted Junior Matlala as president of the Interact Club. He will take over the reins from past president Miché Roberts.
The rest of the Interact Club’s executive members were also inducted.
They are Matthew Lloyd, Nozimanga Mlalazi, Nivashnie Pillay, Zanele Malatsi, Bright Lusaka, Theresa Chisanga, Nasreen Mia, Thandiwe Mkhwanazi and Jessica Motsei.
The Willowmoore High Interact Club currently boasts 340 members, who engage in various community projects.
Keeping the focus on the youth, Theo Pappas, son of Rotarian Margeret Pappas, who is involved with various charities himself, has a string of educational accomplishments behind him and works for a one of the world’s biggest shipping lines, gave a talk on dreams.
“I am glad to see there are fellow youths who want to change the world — it is dissolving quickly,” said Theo.
“If an opportunity does not come knocking on your door, I suggest you make your own.”
Miché also gave a presentation on her experience in Austria, where she spent two months, last year, after she was elected as an exchange student for a short-term exchange programme.
Coordinator of the Willowmoore High Interact Club, Sharol Naidoo, said: “I am very proud of my Interact group.
“They are a hard-working team and dedicated to helping the community.”
