EMPD arrests two for drugs
EMPD Equestrian Unit members spotted a man drinking in public while they were patrolling around Homestead Dam on Monday afternoon (April 28).
EMPD spokesman Wilfred Kgasago said that when he when confronted, the man became aggressive and resisted arrest.
“It was later discovered that over and above being intoxicated from liquor, the suspect was high on drugs and the necessary force was used to subdue him,” said Kgasago.
Two packets of Cat were found in his vehicle.
The man was arrested and charged with drinking in public, possession of narcotics and resisting arrest.
His case was registered at the Benoni Police Station and he was expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrates Court on Tuesday, April 29.
On the same day, at around 3pm, Equestrian Unit members arrested a 28-year-old male in Wordsworth Street, for possession of three ties of narcotics, worth about R150.
He was also charged at the Benoni Police Station, and was expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrates Court on Tuesday, April 29.
