Celebrating 24 years of ministry

Telefriend East Rand is very excited to celebrate 24 years of ministry this year.

They are one of four centres in the country that have assisted people over the telephone over the years.

Established in 1990, Telefriend East Rand is a listening ministry with the aim of every telehelper to make each caller feel they have been heard by at least one other person and that they are important too, but most importantly – heard by God.

They also aim to facilitate change in a person’s thoughts, feelings, attitude and behaviour, particularly when it is contrary to accept community and social norms.

Callers assist people who need unbiased listeners to talk to; people who find themselves in crisis be it financial, emotional, marital; lonely people and those who need prayer.

The Telefriend East Rand has a network of 32 pastoral counsellors and groups of people who they are able to call upon in case of urgent follow up on their behalf.

The ministry believes everybody should be involved in some way or another in uplifting each other in times of despair and crisis.

They have over 40 trained and committed Christian volunteers coming from Benoni, Edenvale and Springs, who do two duties a month.

To make use of this service contact the careline on 0861 106 310 or 011 391 2222.

They working hours are from 8.30am to 10pm every day.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
