Two arrested for drug possession

On Monday, April 28, the EMPD Equestrian Unit spotted a man drinking in public while patrolling around Homestead Dam.

The man became aggressive and resisted arrest when confronted.

Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago said: “They discovered that not only was the man intoxicated from liquor, he was also high on drugs”.

Necessary force was used to subdue the suspect.

Two packets of Cat were found in his vehicle.

The man was arrested and charged with drinking in public, possession of narcotics and resisting arrest.

The suspect was expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrates Court on Tuesday, April 29.

On the same day, a 28-year-old man, in Wordsworth Street, was found in possession of three types of narcotics worth about R150.

He was also charged at the Benoni Police Station and expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrates Court on the same day.
