Local beauty in pageant final

Thembisile Mnguni (34) is a finalist in the Out of Africa Winter King and Queen competition.

Residing in Daveyton, Mnguni has always participated in beauty pageants, but took a break until recently, when she made a come back by entering Mrs South Africa.

She made it into the semi-finals top 55.

The Out of Africa pageant was launched two years ago.

It not only focuses on beauty, but also gives women the opportunity to do community work.

The pageant was supported by CANSA in 2013, and will be supported by the Childhood Cancer Foundation SA (CHOC).

Mnguni entered the pageant in April, in the mature and but mostly married women division.

“I’m inspired by people who keep on dreaming and refuse to give up,” said Mnguni.

”I’m one of them.”

She is currently working in a research and academics sector for HIV and Aids, in Ekurhuleni, and is also doing charity work in her community.

“My passion is to help women find their dreams and be comfortable and confident in whom they are,” said Mnguni.

Mnguni says she is motivated by accomplishment, not pride.

“Pride consumes you and kills your heart from within.”

Mnguni aims to inspire many people and awaken the giants within them, will transform the lives of many South Africans.

Mnguni said being a Mrs South Africa finalist has been the greatest achievement thus far in her career.

The finals will be held on August 30, in Paarl, in the Cape.
