Another pedestrian knocked down

A man was left in a critical condition after being hit by a vehicle on the N12 West, after the Daveyton exit, on Thursday morning (May 29).

ER24 paramedics arrived on scene shortly after 11am and found that a SUV had collided with the pedestrian.

ER24 JHB East spokesperson Glen Orritt said the man, in his 30s, was found lying motionless on the freeway, and in a unresponsive state.

“Paramedics immediately assessed the man and found that he had suffered serious injuries and was in a critical condition,” said Orritt.

Advanced Life Support was required and the man was placed on a manual ventilator.

He was stabilised on scene and transported to a nearby hospital by ER24 for further care.

Orritt said the driver of the SUV was not injured.

Local authorities were on scene to investigate the collision.
