Grant wishes of warmth this winter

The Benoni City Times Winter Wish List is compiled to help local charity organisations to receive donations for the winter time.

Each charity’s donation requests, along with a contact number, are provided in the wish list below:

HABSR (Highveld Anglican Board of Social Responsibility)

For the safe parks, day-care centres, home based care facilities and food gardens they manage, they need blankets, reading books for Early Childhood Development centres, reading books for teenagers, stationery for Early Childhood Development centres, stationery for school children, school uniforms and shoes, clothing and shoes for adults and children, non-perishable food, kitchen goods (pots, pans, cooking utensils, etc.), household goods (curtains, linen, crockery, towels), gardening equipment, medical supplies (bandages, antiseptic, mouthwash, bandages, disposable nappies (from birth to adult)) personal hygiene commodities, (soap, toothpaste, tooth brushes, deodorant).

Bula Monyako Projects

They urgently need the following items for distribution in Wattville, Daveyton and Benoni to destitute people: warm clothing and shoes for children, blankets, non perishable food, tea , sugar, creamer, and bones and vegetables for making soup.

Project Feed the Children

Blankets, non-perishable foods (tin foods, mielie meal, masala, soup, oil, rice, pasta, stock cubes, sugar, salt, soya, etc.), financial assistance and a reliable bakkie.

Kids Haven

Winter clothing (jerseys, fleecy tops, socks and closed shoes like takkies), underwear (especially sports bras for girls, boxer shorts and underwear for boys), shorts for boys, pyjamas (size 5/6 years until 12/13 years), smarter (work) clothing in adult sizes, non-perishable food (maize meal, rice, samp, tinned food, spices and curry powders, jam and peanut butter, fresh meat and vegetables, and dairy), toothpaste, a large lounge suite, two new desk top computers, cupboard hinges and doors, stainless steel toilets, marketing infrastructure, a long wheelbase bakkie with a tow bar for collections and deliveries, food vouchers for use in pre-care and aftercare, vouchers that can be used for gifts for the children’s birthdays and funding.

Christian Social Council

They will be running a soup kitchen twice a week from June to August, this year, and their wish list includes the donation of bread, soup mixes and polystyrene cups, any winter clothing (especially men’s and children’s shoes, jackets, jerseys and socks).

The Haven Care Centre

Building equipment (window frames, doors, roofing/wood for roof), pots for cooking, winter blankets, clothing for men, women and children, soup, any meat and sugar for children’s breakfast.

The Greater Benoni Child Welfare

Clothing (track suits, jerseys, pyjamas and takkies for children aged three to 12 years — both boys and girls), bed linen for single beds (pillows, duvet covers, blankets, pillow slips, flat/fitted sheets), other linen (towels and bedroom curtains), non-perishable food items, cleaning materials and washing detergents. They urgently need clothes, toys, household items, etc., for their charity shop, too.

Benoni SPCA

Dog and cat food, blankets and bedding to keep the animals warm through the cold winter, animal toys, any building items (bricks, cement, fencing, poles, paving, etc.). They are about to undertake the mammoth task of revamping all their kennels and desperately need building materials and equipment, as well as people who are willing to assist in building new kennels and fixing the existing ones. Even monetary donations marked: “kennels” would be fantastic.

Home-Start

Warm clothing for young children, one to eight years (socks, gloves, scarves, jerseys, etc.), blankets and non-perishable food items.

Blankets, dry dog and cat food, new collars and leads, non-perishable food for owners of the disadvantaged animals they assist.

The Apricot Tree special needs school

Any educational toys, a trampoline, a full house play area, a pool to help with exercises for and with the kids and special laptops for the kids.

Blankets and non-perishable food items (such as rusks, long life milk, Cuppa Soup, tinned food, etc.).
