Does your child want to win US$5 000?

Do you want your art displayed on an international stage and have the honour of addressing the United Nations?

If you are between the ages of 11 and 13 on November 15, you might just be able to do that.

Entries for the Lions International Peace Poster Contest are now open, and close on August 22.

This year’s theme is ”Peace, Love and Understanding”.

Lions district chairperson for the peace posters, Beaulieu Mare, said 19 schools have confirmed their participation in this year’s competition.

People are still welcome to enter, including those who belong to art or youth groups.

The International Lions Peace Poster Contest is promoted in local schools and youth groups and has encouraged children to express peace through their posters for over 25 years.

The top 10 entries from each school or group will be on display at the Lakeside Mall from September 2 till 6.

The winning entry from each school or group will then progress to the district level of judging.

The winning poster from the multiple-district level (of which there will be four) will be chosen as the overall, national winner.

This poster will make its way to the international level, where an overall winner will be selected.

The winning artist will be invited to the United States of America for an awards ceremony, the opportunity to address the United Nations and a US$5 000 cash prize.

Each of the 23 merit award winners will receive a cash reward of US$500 and a certificate of achievement.
