SAPS arrest 41 and issue 17 traffic fines in a week

From July 21 to 27, the Crystal Park SAPS conducted policing operations and were able to arrest 41 offenders and issue 17 traffic fines.

The arrests range from malicious damage to property, fraud, business robbery, theft, housebreaking and assault, to possession of stolen property and traffic fines.

“SAPS members closed eight shebeens, six in Chief Albert Luthuli Park and two in Crystal Park, last week,” said Tryna Maritz, communications liaison for the Crystal Park SAPS.

A total of 14 knives were confiscated during stop-and-search operations, and 68,25lt of alcohol were confiscated from the illegal Sheebens in the area.

“The station commander, Lieut Col Belinda Motaung, thanked all SAPS members for playing a part in combating crime,” said Maritz.

Motaung added that illegal trading in liquor will not be tolerated in the Crystal Park policing area.
