UPDATE: Police on a roll: Three more housebreaking suspects nabbed
While searching for more suspects connected to the attempted housebreaking in Stokroos Street, this afternoon (August 14), police came across another gang of house robbers.
Benoni SAPS’s Nomsa Sekele said the suspect who was thought to be involved in the Stokroos Street case tuned out to be a seasoned robber.
The man was apprehended by the EMPD after they became suspicious of him while searching for the two suspects in the Stokroos Street case.
“Police found a car key in his pocket and, upon interrogating him, he revealed that he is a house robber and that his accomplices were waiting in a car in Webb Street,” said Sekele.
The SAPS, CPF and the EMPD immediately went to the address and found two men in the said car.
“They searched the car and found housebreaking implements,” said Sekele.
The men, who said they are from Mamelodi, also told the police that they have been breaking into properties around Benoni for a while.
They were all arrested and will appear soon in the Benoni Magistrates Court.
