Local beauty off to Cape Town
Out of Africa Winter Queen finals are around the corner for Thembi.
Local beauty Queen Thembisile Mnguni (34) is off to Paarl, Cape Town, for the Out of Africa Winter Queen competition.
Residing in Daveyton, Mnguni has always participated in beauty pageants, but took a break until recently, when she made a comeback by entering the Mrs South Africa competition.
The Out of Africa pageant was launched two years ago.
It not only focuses on beauty, but also gives women the opportunity to do community work.
The pageant was supported by Cansa in 2013, and will be supported by the Childhood Cancer Foundation SA (Choc).
Mnguni entered the pageant in April, in the mature and mostly married women division.
“I’m inspired by people who keep on dreaming and refuse to give up,” said Mnguni.
”I’m one of them.”
She is currently working in the research and academics sector for HIV and Aids, in Ekurhuleni, and is also doing charity work in her community.
Mnguni says she is motivated by accomplishment, not pride, and that being a Mrs South Africa finalist has been the greatest achievement thus far in her career.
She will be leaving on August 26, as the finals will be held on August 30.
