EMPD nabs 11 speedsters
The EMPD arrested four speedsters in an 80km/h zone on Paul Kruger and Swan roads, in Springs, and nabbed another seven on the N12 highway, between the Putfontein and Kingsway bridges, on the morning of August 11

All the arrests took place between 5.30am and 8.30am.
On Paul Kruger and Swan roads, two drivers were caught doing 131km/h, and the balance clocked speeds of 119km/h and 117km/h.
“All four speedsters were locked up at the Springs Police Station on charges of reckless and negligent driving,” said EMPD spokesman Wilfred Kgasago.
They are expected to appear in the Springs Magistrates Court soon.
On the N12 freeway, between the Putfontein and Kingsway bridges, a 120km/h zone, seven drivers ended behind bars after they were caught doing speeds in excess of 160km/h.
Kgasago said the highest speed recorded was by a female driver, in an Audi sedan, caught doing 186km/hand claiming that she was rushing to Etwatwa.
“The second highest speed registered was 174km/h, by yet another female driver in an Audi sedan,” said Kgasago.
The rest clocked speeds of between 167km/h and 163km/h.
Charges of reckless and negligent driving were registered against the seven at the Benoni SAPS.
They are expected to appear in the the Benoni Magistrates Court soon.
