Thugs meet their match while trying to rob house of ex-police officer

Two would-be house robbers made a mistake of trying to break into the house of a former police officer in Northmead, this afternoon (August 22).

The ex-cop was at home when he noticed a white Toyota Conquest reversing into his property in Gousblom Street.

“He approached the two men and asked them what were they doing in his property and they could not provide any answers,” said police spokesman Lieut Nomsa Sekele.

The former police officer immediately cornered the two men and contacted the Benoni CPF, which in turn contacted the police.

The Benoni CPF and SAPS arrived on the scene within minutes.

“When questioned the two men, aged 25 and 30, admitted that their aim was to break into the house,” said Sekele.

They were arrested and are expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrates Court soon.
