Man dies and several injured in road accidents this past weekend
Several were injured and one man has died due to road accidents on the weekend.
Netcare 911 paramedics responded to an motorcycle accident on Lakefield Road on August 30, and found the 24-year-old driver had died from his injures.
On the same day, paramedics also responded to a pedestrian accident on Elm Road, and found a man in a critical condition after he was knocked over by a motor vehicle.
He was treated on scene and transported to hospital for further care.
In another accident on August 31, six people sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical when a bakkie collided with a roadside barrier on the R21.
“ER24 and other emergency services arrived on scene and found that the bakkie’s canopy had fallen off and the six men sitting in the back of the bakkie were ejected,” said Luyanda Majija, ER24 media officer.
One man sustained critical injuries and was airlifted from the scene by a medical helicopter.
The other men were taken to various hospitals for further medical care.
The exact cause of the accidents is still being investigated by authorities.
