Animals will survive another year
The fish and bird life which call the pond at Cosmos Park home should have a safe haven for another year.

The water in the drying pond was replenished on Saturday, October 4.
Clr Andre du Plessis said there were seven breeding geese around the perimeter of the pond and that the additional water will help the goslings to have access to natural food and protection from dogs in the area.
Du Plessis thanked the authorities for filling the pond, which had reached very low levels, endangering the fish and breeding bird life.
He also thanked Benoni Customer Care Centre manager Helen Naidoo for arranging for the pond to be refilled, saying the community had expressed their gratitude to him on the day this was done.
The City Times reported on the pond’s low water level on October 25, last year, when the pond was also filled, in time to save the lives of many of the animals.
