Modelling her way to Fiji
Louise van Greunen is honoured to represent South Africa in the World Supermodel Pageant, in Fiji, this November.
The 23-year-old Crystal Park resident will jet off to the finals on November 23.
“I am very confident and nervous, but it is a good nervous,” said van Greunen.
“It will be an honour because I will be representing South Africa and it will be big achievement, because I have done modelling all my life.”
The pageant is an international competition for models between the ages of 20 and 30 years.
The Benoni resident qualified for the finals by being crowned winner of the World Supermodel South Africa leg on July 17, in Bloemfontein.
Van Greunen will be put through her paces before the crowning ceremony on November 29, in Fiji.
She and 24 other women from around the world will vie for the top spot by being judged in challenges ranging from outdoor activities to photo shoots.
The singer, actress and model, who has a diploma in drama, has had her sights set on a career in these art forms from a very young age.
She has competed in many competitions and beauty pageants.
At age six, she was crowned Ms Norries at the Gekombineerde Skool Noorderlig.
She was also the title winner of Ms Hans Moore (her former school), in 2007, and has been a finalist in the Mr and Ms Benoni pageant.
Her mother, Louise van Greunen, said she has always pushed her daughter to enter these competitions, to bolster her personality and confidence.
Now, the young model’s sights are firmly set on the title of the World Supermodel Pageant.
She attributed her qualification for the world stage to her modelling agency, Pascall Model Management, and her teacher at Pascall, Berdine de la Porte.
Van Greunen said they have transformed her modelling ability in the nine months she has been with them.
The youngster told aspiring models to not give up on their dreams of becoming one.
“Do not be scared to believe in yourself and follow your dreams, even when it looks impossible, because winners are not those who never fail, but those who never quit,” she said.
Van Greunen still needs to raise R7 000 before she can fly to Fiji.
