The City Times reported on October 31 on three signs which were marked as Rynfield (instead of Northmead), Cloverdene (instead of Rynfield Agricultural Holdings) and Denel (which should be either Goedeburg or Brentwood Park).
Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe said the municipality appointed Continental Outdoor to assist the metro in erecting the signs.
“Continental Outdoor was suppose to erect suburb township names and simultaneously attach adverts below the names,” said Gadebe.
“The company would pay the municipality a certain percentage of the revenue generated from the advertisements, based on their contract agreement.”
Gadebe said the metro will rectify the problem.
