EMPD searches for missing trailers and potatoes

The EMPD Equestrian Unit recovered a hijacked truck-tractor on Saturday, November 8.

The truck was initially transporting potatoes from Nelspruit to Durban when it was hijacked in the early hours of Saturday morning, in Delmas.

The driver of the truck was dropped off in Springs.

“Metro Police came across the truck-tractor abandoned on Golden Drive,” said Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the perpetrators, after dropping off the driver in Springs, moved the trailers to where they could offload the potatoes.”

Police are still searching for the culprits, as well as the two trailers and stolen potatoes.

The truck-tractor has been placed at the SAPS Van Rhyn Deep Pound.
