Talk motivates SAPS

Members of Daveyton SAPS, as well as neighbouring stations, were inspired by renowned motivational expert, Dr David Molapo, recently.

Molapo delivered a talk on leadership at the Daveyton Police Station.

Daveyton police spokesperson Sgt Constance Moalusi said the event was organised by the Daveyton Police Pastors Forum and was also attended by local community members and church leaders.

“Members of the Daveyton SAPS have, in the recent past, experienced difficult policing challenges and were in dire need of motivation to improve front line service delivery and to develop their emotional intelligence,” she added.

Molapo pointed out that there are seven key factors prohibiting the officers from fulfilling their dreams of becoming great leaders.

He listed the following as key factors:

  •  Words
  •  Negative attitudes
  •  Comparisons
  •  Pride
  •  Time mismanagement
  •  Past failures
  •  Friends

“When asked for one word of inspiration for the SAPS before he left, Molapo replied: ‘Hope’,” said Moalusi.

She added that members of the Daveyton SAPS are, indeed, hopeful that they will rise above the immediate challenges by learning from the past and excelling in the future.
