Jolly Pioneers celebrate the new year
The jolly members of the Benoni Pioneers Association gathered for a luncheon on Wednesday, January 21, in celebration of the new year.
Held at Mike’s Kitchen, in Rynfield, this is one of three social meetings the club has annually.
Members enjoyed a buffet lunch, fellowship and festive live music by Mike Isaacs.
The association was founded in 1934 and is one of Benoni’s longest standing groups, lead by former mayor of the city president Sam Grolman, and lady president Shirley du Plessis.
As a condition to join the association, the applicant must have been a resident of Benoni for a minimum of 30 years.
Anyone who would like to join may contact the association’s secretary, Brenda McDonald, on 073 423 3280.
