The perpetrators also raided the school’s fridge and took time to cook eggs and sausages, and make sandwiches during a crime spree.
The Crystal Park school was burgled on Tuesday evening, January 28.
Crystal Park SAPS media liaison officer Tryna Maritz said the criminals entered the school’s admin block through the corrugated roof.
“They immediately disabled the alarm’s wires and entered,” said Maritz.
“As soon as they entered, they removed CCTV cameras and also took 25 computer screens.”
The security company which guards the school received no signal at their control room notifying them of a break-in.
Four computer towers were also stolen.
The school’s principal, Cecil Behrens, said those responsible trashed the offices and knew their surroundings.
“The people who came in knew exactly where the computers were; they knew the layout,” said Behrens.
The principal explained that entry was made through the roof exactly above the school’s computer room and the three offices which contained computers.
The burglars entered the school by breaking the chain securing the gate on Orchard Road.
Two of the safes were tampered with, but the one that was opened contained no items of value.
Behrens told the City Times that learning would be disrupted for the next two weeks as the school looks to replace the stolen computers.
“To me it is just disgusting. You are an institution servicing the community then they do this to you,” said Behrens.
Police do not have any suspects at this stage.
A case of business burglary has been opened at the Crystal Park Police Station.
Anyone with information on who may have committed the crime is asked to phone the police station’s detective branch on 011 968 9056.
