Thanks to Good Samaritans

Ig Claassen writes by email:

On Tuesday morning (January 27), my wife Majella and our dog, Chess, were taking their normal walk through Lakefield when a swarm of bees attacked them without any provocation.

Chess’s lead got entangled in Majella’s legs and she fell, breaking her elbow.

The bees kept at her for quite a while.

I’m truly grateful that Majella and Chess survived this attack.

I’d like to thank the following people for their assistance during this very traumatic morning:

· Joanne – the first person on the scene. Although allergic to bee stings, Joanne stayed with Majella and phoned Saber Tactical. Joanne took Chess to her home for safe-keeping, while Majella was being attended to by the emergency response people;

· Justin (of Saber Tactical) who stayed with Majella while waiting for ER24. Justin was very compassionate and supporting. He also assisted with removing stings;

· The ER24 personnel (I only spoke to Francois), who got Majella to the Glynnwood safely and quickly;

· Dr Prinsloo, Sr Eccles, Brandon, and the other Glynnwood Trauma Centre personnel who stabilised and treated Majella with such care.
