Man sentenced to 10 years imprisonment

David Pilusa was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, three of which have been suspended for five years, for housebreaking with the intent to steal, and theft.

The 29-year-old was sentenced in the Benoni Magistrates Court on February 19.

Pilusa’s suspended sentence will be revoked if he is found guilty of the following crimes during that time:

  •  Housebreaking with intent to commit any offence.
  •  Theft.
  •  Attempted housebreaking, or attempted theft.
  •  Possession of suspected stolen goods.
  •  Receiving stolen goods.

The conviction comes after Const Edmund Mdhluli and Const Azwindini Mabuda arrested Pilusa for house breaking and theft on June 21, last year.

He was linked via fingerprints to three housebreaking cases.

During May 2013, he committed housebreakings in Totius Road and Conway Street, in Crystal Park.

Two months later, he committed a housebreaking in Orchard Street, Crystal Park.

Pilusa’s fingerprints were found at all three crime scenes.

He will serve his sentence in Modderbee Prison.
