Fond memories of Northmead Square
Several readers of the Benoni City Times Facebook page expressed their fond memories of the Northmead Square.
The City Times reported last week that the centre was sold to the Bentel Group, effective March 1.
The Northmead Square was opened by its founders, the Coutsides family, nearly 17 years ago.
Here are the comments:
Glenn Bradford: “I used to play in those fields when I was a kid. The big dog on the property used to chase us. Good times. Now I drink at the square.”
Sarah Swanson: “What a legend of a man. Wishing him and his family all the very best.”
Fleur Brett Spratley: “Oh wow! I have loads of fond memories of the Square. I worked there for 10 years.”
Monique Naude: “Congratulations to the family. Wishing you all the best in your next adventure. Wow, well done on a superb development which formed part of our lives for many years.”
Alida Waldeck: “All the best, Fivo – worked there for two years. May the centre be as prosperous as it has always been under good hands.”
Stella Nicholls: “I remember the pink house. Used to walk past there on my way home from Benoni High School. Miss the Northmead Square, have fond memories of Benoni.”
Daniela Dracevac: “Wow! What great memories!Thank you, Fivo, for allowing me to be part of the great story from day one! I miss the Square and all who made it such a special place. Good luck with your next adventure (I am very curious to know what it may be).
Scott Austin: “I still get homesick when I see the Northmead Square. Love this place.”
