Amazingly African Caxton awards

The Caxton East and South division raked in numerous awards at the company's glamorous annual function, themed "Amazingly African", held at the Johannesburg Theatre, on Thursday, March 19.

Benoni resident Lori-Ann Strydom won the category for Ad Designer of the Year, for the second year in a row.

Caxtonites were treated to an evening of excitement plus top class entertainment provided by the Soweto Gospel Choir, Johnny Apple, popular favourites Gangs of Ballet and up-and-coming vocalist Ashlin Gray.

Compere Carol Tshabalala, an award winning television and radio sportcaster, who is one of the Supersport anchors, was styled by Wayne Stafford of First Crew Productions, and dressed by Sungodess.

Awards:

Best Multi Media Storyteller: Carina van der Walt (Alberton Record) for their coverage of N12 mutiple accident; highly commended: Charmaine Slater (Bedfordview Edenvale News) for “Outrage over rape hotspot”.

Ad Designer of the Year: Lori-Ann Strydom

Credit Controller of the Year: Eldrie Grobler

Best Original Idea: Daniel Seleme, Marietta Lombard, Christopher Mcinga (Joburg East Express) for their “Spelling Bee”; highly commended: Marietta Lombard and Charmaine Slater (Bedfordview Edenvale News) for “Tiles for Change”.

Field Sales Person of the Year: highly commended, Elize Kluyts (Boksburg Advertiser).

Finalists from the division were:

Best Hard News Photograph: Fanie Mthupha (Boksburg Advertiser) for “Service delivery protest”

Switchboard Operator of the Year: Maggie Maritz (Boksburg Advertiser) and Christina

Radebe (Germiston City News).

Telesales Person of the Year: Agrineth Lebakeng (Boksburg)

Karen Watts, general manager of the Caxton East and South division, said the winners, finalists and those who were highly commended have done the division proud.
