Woman hurt in Farrarmere driveway armed robbery

A woman was slightly injured from shattered glass after her car window was smashed by an armed robber on April 2, at 11.40am.

Benoni SAPS cluster spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele said the woman had pulled into her driveway on Lawrence Street, Farrarmere, when two men approached her driver’s door.

“She was waiting for the gate to open, when she saw a small white car in her mirror, coming at a high speed behind her,” said Sekele.

The spokesperson said the victim reversed into the robbers’ vehicle before it came to a standstill behind her.

“The driver jumped out with a firearm and smashed the driver’s window,” said Sekele.

The woman was robbed of her handbag and jewellery she was wearing.

The robbers also took the woman’s car keys, but did not steal the vehicle.

The victim sustained injuries to her neck from the shattered glass.

She was treated on scene by paramedics.

No arrests have been made.

A case of armed robbery will be opened at the Benoni Police Station.
