The 23-year-old victim, who works for a company contracted to connect and disconnect electricity for Ekurhuleni, was hit over the head with a metal pipe, on April 20, at a business on Ampthill Avenue.
The victim, who did not want to be named, for fear of being victimised, said he and a colleague entered the business and explained their mandate.
He said they were met with verbal abuse.
“On my way out, the son of the owner was swearing at us,” said the victim.
“I told him I was not going to talk to him, because he was not the owner.”
The man then went outside to switch off the electricity supply.
“On my way out, the owner stood up and hit me with a metal object,” he said.
According to the victim, he received several stitches to the back of his head, at the Far East Rand Hospital.
