Car crashes through barrier, two die

ER24 paramedics arrived on scene shortly before 2pm, and saw that a light motor vehicle had crashed through a barrier at the end of Putfontein Road, near the on ramp onto the N12 highway.

The car went down an embankment.

“Paramedics found that the driver and front passenger, both males in their late 50s, had already succumbed to their injuries and were declared dead on arrival,” said ER24 JHB East spokesperson Glen Orritt.

“A female backseat passenger in her 30s suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance for further care.”

Local authorities will investigate the accident further.
