EMPD catch boy (15) driving truck

A 15-year-old boy was found driving a four ton Toyota truck, on New Modder Road, on July 20.

EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago said Metro Police officers “got the the shock of their lives” when they discovered that the truck had no accelerator pedal.

A wire hook was attached to the accelerator cable.

“The truck was in a shocking condition,” said Kgasago.

“Although the truck was empty, the youngster claimed that he was employed to deliver goods in and around the Daveyton area.”

The vehicle was impounded and the young, unlicensed driver was placed in his guardian’s custody.

The EMPD are trying to locate the truck owner.

“Once the owner is located he or she will be slapped with a fine for permitting a person without a valid driving licence to drive on a public road,” said Kgasago.
